National Parkinson's Organizations

• National Parkinson Foundation
  The NPF is the largest and oldest national Parkinson foundation in the United States. NPF supports Parkinson-related research, patient care, education, training, and outreach. There are now 39 affiliated Chapters of NPF throughout the U.S., Puerto Rico, and the Bahamas; 39 Centers of Excellence in the U.S., including 12 in four continents around the world; 8 NPF Care Centers; and 7 NPF Outreach Centers. Their Chapters (including the AZNPF) and Centers work with hundreds of persons in Support Groups throughout the U.S.
• American Parkinson Disease Association
  The American Parkinson Disease Association (APDA) is a grassroots organization serving PWPs and their caregivers in three vital areas: research, patient and caregiver support, and education.
• Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research
  The Michael J. Fox Foundation for Parkinson's Research is dedicated to ensuring the development of a cure for Parkinson's disease within this decade through an aggressively funded research agenda.
• Parkinson Alliance
  The Parkinson Alliance is a national non-profit organization dedicated to raising funds to help finance the most promising research to find the cause and cure for Parkinson's disease.
• Parkinson's Disease Foundation
  The Parkinson's Disease Foundation (PDF) is a leading national presence in Parkinson's disease research, education and public advocacy. We are working for the nearly one million people in the US living with Parkinson's by funding promising scientific research and supporting people with Parkinson's, their families and caregivers through educational programs and support services.
• Parkinson's Institute
  The Parkinson’s Institute, an internationally recognized organization, is dedicated to finding the cause(s) and a cure for Parkinson's disease (PD).
• Young Onset Parkinson's Association
  The mission of YOPA is to serve all young-onset Parkinson's patients by providing them with empathy, information, an affiliation with others like themselves and a connection with the young onset community.

  The Muhammad Ali Parkinson Center (MAPC) is a National Parkinson Foundation Center of Excellence, and a wonderful resource for people with Parkinson’s and their families.

• NIH Parkinson's Research News Archive
  Patients interested in the newest findings in Parkinson's research can visit the National Institutes of Health (NIH) National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) News Archive page.
• NIH NET-PD (exploratory trials)
  NET-PD is a series of clinical research studies conducted at more than 50 centers across the country and in Canada in an effort to find drugs to slow the progression of Parkinson's.
• NINDS Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson's Information Page
  The National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke (NINDS) of the National Institutes of Health (NIH) recently launched an information page specifically about Deep Brain Stimulation for Parkinson's Disease. The page includes an explanation of how stimulation therapy is delivered, how the Activa System components are implanted, and how patients can benefit from the therapy.

  PD Index is an organized collection of references ("links") to Internet resources that provide information about Parkinson's disease (PD).
• PD Plan for Life
  PDPlan4Life was created to motivate and inspire people with Parkinson’s (PWP) to take control of their disease, rather than give in to it and wait to die. Our message is simple: Parkinson’s is not a death sentence, unless you make it one.

  Up-to-date information on Parkinson's disease clinical trials currently enrolling participants in the U.S. by symptom and location, as well as the latest news and views on what's happening in the world of Parkinson's trials.
• Parkinson's Information Exchange Network Online (PIENO)
  PIENO is an email list founded in 1993 by Barbara Patterson, who has Parkinson's. PIENO presents 11+ years of e-mail messages to those in the same condition and makes them searchable. One can subscribe for free to the PIENO listserv to receive valuable information, or one can browse online for specific information.

  The Northwest Parkinson's Foundation (NWPF) is a Washington state non-profit charity, established to make the Northwest a leading world center of movement disorders knowledge and treatment.
